My Verizon 4G LTE Experience

NOTE: This post is NOT sponsered by Verizon Wireless USA, or Best Buy for Mobile, I purchased this unit and the service myself, with my own money.

Today I went out and purchased a Verizon Wirless 4G LTE Hotspot, the Samsung SCH-LC11 3G/4G Hotspot that allows you to connect up to 5 devices using 802.11 b/g/n WiFi.

Initially I wasn’t sure what I wanted, but because Verizon has probably one of the largest 4G networks right now, I thought I would give it a whirl. When running the connection through the usual tests, I had no problem getting from Point A to Point B, in fact, in most cases it performed better then my standard cable internet at home.

When I ran the speedtest.net test, I averaged about 9Mbps download and about 5Mbps upload, although the upload speeds varied from test to test.

Lastly, when testing for HD Video, always a good benchmark for connection performance, performed extremely well. I took two videos in HD Quality to the 4G connection on YouTube, and in both cases performed exceptionally well without any additional buffering. Something I can’t say on a traditional cable connection.

While I can’t say that everyone will have the same experience, overall, Verizon’s 4G LTE Network is good for anyone on the go and wanting a little boost in their browsing experience.

“We did it, just like I thought” Vlog #32

This week I’ve got two things that I want to discuss, and then I’ll get on out of here.

First thing I mentioned was the fact that Unwired Networks (formally Unwired Group) passed it’s year mark with two major changes, the first being the name change from The Unwired Group, Ltd (see post link below) to Unwired Networks, LLC and the second a major design overhaul which I’ve discussed on several occasions before.

Secondly, we passed our FOR (Formal Operations Review), which I expressed concern on last week, it’s great because I still have a job, but there’s still work to do.

Last but not least this week’s shoutout goes to @Arabic_Chic on Dailybooth, you can check out her profile in the links below.

“Fear Not” Vlog #31

Hey guys, long time no see, it’s a new year, and finally another episode. Kinda switched things up this episode by doing both talking and shooting.

First thing I mentioned (towards the end) is the fact that there were some issues with my site, I knew about them, and they’ve been fixed, I appreciate the feedback I got for it, and will continue to accept your feedback.

Second thing I mentioned was the fact that I know I kind of dropped the ball on this episode, it was supposed to be the big one, but in light of our corporate review (called the FOR, or the Formal Operations Review) coming up which has gotten me a little worked up and stressed.

I’d like to thank you all for making this past year a success, and hopefully this year will be even better.

Last but not least this week’s shoutout goes to @paigeme on Dailybooth, you can check out her profile in the links below.

Layout issues

I’ve had some people tell me that they layout isn’t working correctly, and that additional pages such as Services, Media and Contact don’t show a layout at all. I’m aware of these issues.

Upon further investigation, I’ve discovered an issue with Tumblr’s page system that didn’t correct its self when I was working on this layout, which has lead to the issues that you see.

Rest assured that I am working on fixing those issues, and hope to have it rectified soon.

Thanks for the patience, and I continue to take in your feedback.

Welcome to 2012

2011 is over, and a new year begins, full of promises, and most likely some downfalls, but for the sake of being positive, it’s time to make this year better then the last by improving upon things that you did wrong the year before.

Admittedly last year was a rough one, a lot of things happened, and a lot of new things came out of it, like the vlogs that I’ve been doing, which, at least in my opinion have turned out well, and will be re-launching soon, and the new iterations of World of Sevan (which, by the way, right now is still unfinished, sorry!)

But enough about last year, this year’s going to be an interesting and bumpy ride, considering the plans I have could perhaps be even bigger then last year’s. But I’ll keep that a secret and let them unwravel in the months to come.

Welcome to 2012, and Happy New Year folks, hope you had a great holiday, and I hope to see you soon!

“Shooting in Standard” Vlog #30

So I know that this was supposed to be the big episode with a lot of changes, in light of recent events, such changes have to be put on hold.

The first thing I mentioned, if you haven’t noticed it already, is the fact that the video is in standard definition, at least the vlog part of it is. Long story short, I dropped my phone in a fry vat at work, and got suspended for it.

Second thing I mentioned, as I stated above, I won’t be making any changes to the show, as I previously mentioned in 28 and 27, I know, bummer.

Last but not least, this week’s shoutout goes to @AmberRosee on Dailybooth, you can check out her profile in the links below.

Quick Edit: Looks like iMovie stretched the video for Widescreen format, the original source is in VGA (640x480)

“Understanding why I do video” Vlog #29

As an extension to the post I made not too long ago, episode #29 is an explanation in video form, if that doesn’t do it justice, then perhaps it’s better left alone.

I do plan on doing more videos like this, so let me know what you think, your feedback is always welcome.

Understanding my venture in video

Often times people don’t understand the work I do, and why I do it. Not that it makes a difference if one does or doesn’t, but making it clear why one does something dies help establish new ground for those who are just tuning in.

For those who have read my posts in the past know that I have had several ventures in media, mainly in podcasting, but like most of my projects, they go under because if commitments in life, such as work or the our lack of interest.

In any case, the vlogs that I do are simply an extension of these very posts. Sometimes words just don’t do it justice.

But since I’ve been doing vlogs a lot of other things have come to mind, like perhaps filming and doing segments of things I enjoy like technology.

The problem is, however is that being on somewhat of a limited budget, producing quality shows is somewhat limited, but in the coming months, that may or may not change. Put simply, I have some plans soon to help shape my media ventures.

Just keep your eyes peeled, and continue to provide your feedback, and stay tuned!

“Just a new look” Vlog #27

I know it’s been a while, but things have been busy.

The first thing I talked about this week is I received word, and spoke to an employee (a manager) I work with, and was asked to do Split Shifts, for those unaware of what a split shift is, it’s basically starting at one point, ending at another, and then coming back for additional time to help illeviate the need to cut someone’s hours. In my case, it’s exactly that, in order to keep my hours, this, as of this moment looks like the best option. While I can’t say much as of yet, because it hasn’t been approved, I will be sure to let you guys know if anything comes up.

Second thing I mentioned is that over the past several weeks, I’ve been working on improving my blog, your thoughts and feedback are welcome, you can see an overview within this video.

New look and feel

Over the past few hours, I have been working and changing the blog’s look and feel, making the site more professional and appealing to users who come in to read and watch content I have posted both here, and on YouTube.

While the nature of the site has changed over the years, going from a very static nature, to a more dynamic one, the sites initial purpose as a repository of [fluff] that I post every once and a while, I am beginning to roll out changes to make the site more of the latter, dynamic

Dynamic content is the essence that the notion that content posted on the site is no longer static, that it changes over a more frequent time frame.

One of my goals, going forward, is to make the site more dynamic, or at least the main page. Additional pages, such as Media, About, and Services will remain in their static manner.

I hope you like the changes so far, and I hope to continue improving the quality of posts, audio/video content and photos going forward. Stay tuned guys, and as always, your feedback is welcome through normal means of communication (on Facebook, Twitter, and now Google +)
